A group of University of Nebraska
football players is suing the Big Ten to force the conference to allow games
this fall. According to fansided.com, the
lawsuit, filed in state court by eight players, is charging, among other offenses,
“wrongful interference with business expectations.” How special.
Basically, the players are arguing
that football is their major and the Big Ten is in effect denying them the
degree necessary to go out in the world and get a job. Only the “degree” is a full slate of football
games. And here I thought college
athletics is all about the “student-athlete.”
Somebody go tell the NCAA.
I don’t know whether to be
impressed by the players’ honesty or put off by their arrogance. Buy why choose?
