Chris
Sale went for his tenth straight win last night against the Indians. Barring divine intervention, he faced a
lineup devoid of Hall of Famers and All Stars, shortstop Francisco Lindor the
one possible exception. So, what
happened? Sale couldn’t get out of the
fourth inning, giving up a total of six earned runs on six hits and four
walks. I hate losing to a bunch of
nobodies.
As
ever, Sale blamed himself. It would’ve
been nice instead had his teammates rallied around their ace by actually
hitting the ball and scoring runs, if not enough for a win then at least to get
Sale off the hook for a loss. But no,
the Sox come away with but one moral victory—the atrociously slumping Jose
Abreu, who’s taken to swinging at pitches six inches inside, managed his first
three-hit game of the season.
Cleveland
rocked, and that’s not right.
