This week, the
White Sox signed Olympic speed skater and Silver medalist Eddy Alvarez to a
minor league contract. A shortstop, Alvarez
last played baseball in 2011.
What a wonderful
message, in the true spirit of Jackie Robinson, to send to women softball
players—We don’t care how long it’s been since he last played. He’s a guy.
